I woke up early this morning and headed over to the Annandale Farmers Market. I love going to the market and getting samples of fresh fruit, vegetables and bread. There is no better breakfast to start the day. Today, for the first time in my life, I ate raw corn right off the ear. Mark, from Toigo Orchards left a message the other day saying, “you gotta try this corn, it’s so sweet, you don’t even need to cook it…”. I had my suspicions to be honest with you. It sounded a bit primitive to me. So, there I was at 8:30 in the morning eating raw corn, getting the the hair from the top of the corn stuck to my face, as the lady from Toigo said I looked like a cat with whiskers. So, I guess there is a first for everything.
Anyways, let’s get back to the reason why I begun this post. White Peaches. Perfumed, Sweet, Wonderful White Peaches. & I took matters a bit further. I combined them with Prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine. So, it starts off with a clean perfurmed peachy flavor and finishes off with the sweet zing of Prosecco. We also have a half bushel of Yellow Peaches, red Methley Plums and yellow Shiro Plums. I love going to the markets, chatting with the farmers, trying their goods, squeezing peaches and pulling away with a car full of crated fruit, stone fruit that is.
Tomorrow I get my raspberries for the Raspberry gelato. What a wonderful summer it has been so far. The corn incident has me thinking of Elote gelato, a nice sweet creamy corn flavor.
…hmmmm…so much to spin, so little time…
