Every week or two, we’ll be using the blog to reacquaint you with some familiar faces: our baristas. Find out how they got into this mess in the first place and more. We’re kicking things off with Chelsea Nagel.
Name: Chelsea Nagel
Store: Fairfax originally, will be moving on up to the Factory and the rest of the Dolcezza realm shortly.
Years with Dolcezza: 2.5
How do you take your coffee? After dialing in, I make a 4oz Americano. If I am at Dolcezza (not working or not on bar that day) or another coffee shop, I take a pour over of any sorts and a Gibraltar/ Cortado.
What made you want to work for Dolcezza? Coffee. I was working at a cafe in a movie theater when the Fairfax Dolcezza opened and at the theater I was there was no one to learn coffee from. I was just starting to become interested in coffee and wanted to learn as much as I could so, I moved to Dolcezza and here I am.
What do you do when you’re not at work? Well, I like to be outdoors running, playing tennis, kayaking, hiking, anything outside really. I also love to read and find myself at coffee shops frequently.
Favorite coffee region: Ethiopia by far.
Affogato of choice: Nocciola del Piemonte.
Favorite music to play in the shop: I like to listen to a variety of music while working depending on the time of day and which location I’m working at but some of my favorites are Little Green Cars, Natalia Lafourcade, Alabama Shakes, The Rolling Stones, and Queen.
Funniest/weirdest Dolcezza story: This one is so hard. I’ve had a lot of things happen to me while working at Dolcezza. There was Dolcezza in the Lake when the Fairfax store flooded, another employee and I used to be camp counselors and we’d sing camp songs together during close, of course random dance parties have occurred frequently, I was working alone one morning when 20 members of our friendly neighborhood biker gang came to visit Dolcezza, that was amazing, they were awesome. I feel like my whole experience at Dolcezza has been weird in some way. I love it.
