Dolcezza‘s gelato factory and “coffee lab” officially opens near Union Market today with free public tours at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. now through Sunday. Guests this weekend can also pick up half-priced pints of gelato and sorbet that normally retail for $10.50.
The 4,000-square-foot factory has been producing gelato and sorbetto for its retail operations since December, but only now can the public check out the tasting room. The facility features a 20-seat bar where guests can sample five to six freshly churned flavors in production at any given time. Co-ownerRobb Duncan will also debut some new sundaes, including Thai coconut milk gelato with chocolate chili crumble, Singing Dog vanilla gelato with rosemary sugar walnuts, and Valrhona chocolate with homemade peanut butter topped with salted Hubs Virginia peanuts and whipped cream. Coffee lovers can also get their fix with single origin coffees exclusively from Portland-based Stumptown Coffee Roasters.
The factory will be open from noon to 5 p.m. today and from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
