Every week or two, we’ll be using the blog to reacquaint you with some familiar faces: our baristas. Find out how they got into this mess in the first place and more. We’re moving on to round ten with Katie.
Name: Katie M
Store: Logan Circle
Years with Dolcezza: 2 and a half
How do you take your coffee? at moments when the glassy darkness holds the genuine apparition of your smile. Also throw some vanilla in there and we’re golden.
What made you want to work for Dolcezza? ~ Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off – then, I account it high time to get to Dolcezza as soon as I can.
What do you do when you’re not at work? Play with Bonnie the Pug ( #longlivebonnie)
Favorite coffee region: Mexico La Sierra Mixteca
Affogato of choice: Wahid’s Salty Nut Special
Favorite music to play at work: During work hours: Alternative rock/ Indie Rock Station No. 2 During Closing Hours: 2000’s throwback stations (N.SYNC, Backstreet Boys, Brittany Spears before she had the ’07 meltdown)
Funniest/weirdest Dolcezza story: At both locations I have worked at, there has been a local pug I have befriended. At Bethesda, his name was Tater. At Logan, there is Gracie, Broomhilda, and Mr. Pickles. Pugs are life.
